Culture and Heritage

Marne-la-Vallée hosts numerous venues offering a great variety of activities and events.

Ranging from common centres to media libraries, municipal halls to cultural centres, there is no lack of cultural venues in this area.

In the meandering of its paths, lanes and streams, Marne-la-Vallée surprises its visitors by the wealth of its heritage. In this land of contrasts, it leaves one as bewitched by the charm of the castles and the villages of the Brie land.

Culture in the spotlight

The Michel-Simon Centre in Noisy-le-Grand, Ferme du Buisson in Noisiel, Rentilly Cultural Park in Bussy Saint-Martin, Ferme Corsange in Bailly-Romainvilliers and Café-Musique in Magny-le-Hongre are among the symbolic places of culture in Marne-la-Vallée.

Those places offer an abundant and diversified programming:

  • The Michel-Simon Centre programme includes events for all audiences to experience established and up-and-coming shows. The Centre hosts, every year, the Show sous les Palmiers festival, a music and comedy event, as well as the Chemins de Traverse festival featuring theatre, dance, circus and street arts.
  • Ferme du Buisson, the Marne-la-Vallée national theatre, hosts artists in residence and produces events throughout the season. The year’s highlight is the Temps d’Images festival, co-produced with Arte TV, which for the past seven years has been providing a venue for encounters and discovery for stage and image arts through shows, exhibitions and performance art.

New town, Marne-la-Vallée is no less than a historic town.

Châteaux (Ferrières, Champs-sur-Marne, Guermantes, etc.) or old Brie farms, there are several vestiges of a flourishing past.

The old Menier chocolate factory in Noisiel is an emblem of the heritage of the industrial revolution.

Recently, archaeological excavations updated major sites of the Gallic period in Ferrières, and of the Gallo-Roman and medieval periods in Montévrain.

The municipalities take care to protect them and value them for the greater enjoyment of visitors: the tourist trails lead them to the discovery of Marne-la-Vallée's hidden treasures.
